Products I regret buying #1

l-r: maybelline coloursensational popstick in citris slice, NYC showtime black mascara, MUA eyebrow pencil in Blonde, soap and glory eyebrow pencil, Rimmel London scandaleyes mascara.

This month in particular I've been trying so hard to use all of my products up before using the newer ones I have purchased or just buying more. I'm normally one who either just forgets about the products I wasn't so keen on but still keep them at the bottom of my make-up pile, or just throws them away straight away, so this whole 'one in one out' policy really reminded me of the products I'm not so keen on, but will carry on using them nonetheless purely because I know I'll be using my nicer products after haha.

Maybelline Coloursensational popstick in Citris Slice: You may have seen this product feature in one of my hauls a while back, and I won't lie, I haven't used it since. It was just an impulse buy, I saw it was orange and then the 3 for 2 Superdrug deal got the better of me so of course I had to buy it..but I do wish I didn't. In the shop I did swatch it however I just put the lack of pigmentation due to the fact I'd swatch it on my hands and just presumed it would look different on the lips. Boy was I wrong. There's no colour at all, it just gives a glossy effect, which of course some may like but when I paid just over £8 for it I realise I could have got a nicer, cheaper lipgloss which would do the same thing. I know some people say that the only thing they like about this is the smell, but even that doesn't win me over I'm afraid.

NYC Showtime mascara: In all honesty, I'd forgotten all about this...and what's worse is I have two of them (again, the whole 3 for 2 deal got the better of me) There's nothing really to say about this apart from the fact I do not like it and it doesn't do what I expected it to do. I suppose the 'showtime lash' in the name made me think it would give me 'showtime' lashes. But I can't moan too much I suppose, it isn't too expensive so I haven't lost out on too much!

MUA eyebrow pencil in Blonde: Ok, so this is a bit of a controversial post because I think I do secretly like this product however there's just two things I wish I could change to make it the most perfect eyebrow pencil. 1) it wears down SO quickly. honestly, I'm using this and realising I'm having to sharpen it either halfway through using it or just before I use it. 2) I don't know, this is a confusing one so I'm hoping you can catch my drift. But when I use it, ok it's not super pigmented however it does the job BUT my eyebrows then resemble something out of Grease and they just look like they've been coated in gel and then just stuck to my forehead which just makes them look somewhat fake. (ok i've just read that through and I know it doesn't make sense but someone at least say they know what I mean?!) I don't know, I do like this, and for £1 I suppose I'm just being picky.....I probably will buy this again though haha.

Soap and Glory Eyebrow Pencil: Again, this eyebrow pencil makes me look as though I've stuck my eyebrows on which I don't like. (Thinking about it, it could just be my eyebrows/face) It's not very pigmented and looks more grey than brown which isn't too nice. But I do LOVE the highligter that comes with it!! Soap and Glory need to sell this seperately!

Rimmer Scandaleyes mascara: Ok, so maybe I shouldn't listen to adverts too much because as soon as I saw the advert for this I had to get it because the lashes on the model looked so volumised and beautiful, and of course, it doesn't do that to me. Maybe I have a faulty one (?) But even the brush and the formula is awful. The brush picks up way too much and the formula is just gloopy and think and then clumps all your eyelashes together which isn't nice at all. I don't like this at all but I am intrigued to try the new one thats recently come out, can't remember the name but it's one with the ball on the brush, you know?

What products do YOU regret buying?! xo

MUA Cosmetics

MUA may be a company which you have never heard of before.....but I'm telling you this, you're missing out! The company has such a wide range of products, you name it, they'll probably stock it and for such a good price too.
I've been so excited to try their products as I have heard such great things about them....all of which have proved to be true. During the week I ended up going into town with my little brother, and of course, had to drag him into Superdrug just so I could see if my local store was stocking MUA...and to my surprise, they were. After composing myself after getting way too excited, I decided I HAD to buy something and immediately looked for the two products I had been lusting over for a long time; the blonde eyebrow pencil and the Heaven and Earth eyeshadow palette, and I'm ever so glad I purchased these.
The eyeshadow palette is perfect. I love every single one of these colours, and for only £4 you can't go wrong. The pigmentation for each of the eyeshadows is amazing, so much better than what I actually thought it would be considering the price. My favourite look from this palette is to use a lighter colour on the lid, and then a darker brown in the crease and slightly on the brow bone. Even my mum is saying she's liking how I'm doing my make-up lately with thanks to this palette!
The eyebrow pencil is definitely one of the best ones I've tried. I'm a sucker for defined eyebrows and can't go a day without filling mine in, making them look that little bit better, and I've found that this one does the job, much better than previous ones I've tried. The colour is perfect for me, which has been so hard to find. The formula of this pencil is amazing, it's so soft on the skin and just glides across your eyebrow, which in my opinion, makes it easier to fill them in and define. I love it....and guess what?! It's only £1!! That's it. I'll definitely be purchasing this again soon!

You can find MUA products in your local Superdrug, or if not you can buy products on their website (muastore.co.uk) or on Superdrugs website. These products are definitely worth buying and I'm so excited to buy more soon.....infact, I'm trying to persuade my mum to come into my local town with me tomorrow so I can buy more, and then convert her into a MUA lover! ;)

What's your favourite MUA product?

Essie polish

Since joining the wonderful world of blogging, I've had the chance to try, and fall in love with several beauty related products. Essie polish being one of these.
It was only the other day, I was at my dads and went into his local Boots, and to my surprise I was greeted by a bright stand FULL of Essie polish...which was my first encounter with this polish. I must have looked like a bit of a weirdo, standing in front of the stand, smiling to myself....but who cares! Unfortunately though, I had zero money on me and was later coming back home to Hertfordshire so that was dissapointing!
Since coming home back to Hertfordshire, it has been my mission to find one of these stands and give my mum the whole puppy-dog-eyed-look in hope she'd agree to buy me one, or buy herself one and just let me try it haha! But nope, nothing.
That was, until Saturday 9th June. My brother and I went into our local town, and after hearing that you can get Nails Inc polishes, a set of four for £14.99, in TK Maxx, I had to go have a look for myself. Of course, there were loads of Nails Inc polishes which made me extremely happy because it is such a good deal. However, whilst rummaging through random boxes of polishes I came across a set of three, in plain packaging and the well known white lid with the 'e' on it. Of course, I knew what make that was.....it was Essie! It was the only one left and I knew I had to get it, for £9.99 for three you could hardly go wrong, especially as in Boots they're retailed at £7.99 for one!
Although they wouldn't actually be the colours I would choose if I was buying polish, I still love them.
Although I believe there has been some mix up of the names of two of the polishes because Capri (far left) and Tangerine (middle) don't match up to the swatches online. However, I believe the real names for all three of these polishes are, left to right: Kisses & Bises, either Little Brown Dress or Lady Godiva (it's a chocolatey brown colour if anyones able to help?!) and the Antique Rose.

So far I've tried the brown coloured one and then i put the pearly whit on top of it, which i love. Everything I've heard about these polishes is so true, the formulation, the pigmentation, everything. I'll definitely be buying more of these polishes!!
Keep an eye out in your local TK Maxx too!

GLAMOUR freebies!

I'm sure most, if not all, of you are aware of this months Benefit freebies which come with Glamour magazine. Of course, I couldn't just get one....I had to get all three. At just £2 a magazine and getting at least a £10 freebie, you can't go wrong (even if the prospect of buying the same magazine three times is somewhat annoying!)
In my eyes, despite these of course only being sample sizes, this is still such a good deal...and I'm so glad I purchased all three!
The first one I picked up was the one with the 'Bad Gal Lash' mascara. Being a bit of a mascara junkie, I immediately picked this one up first and slightly squeeled with excitement, especially after hearing such good things about all Benefit mascaras. I have only used this one once as a bit of a tester, because I want to use up my current mascara first, however, just by using it that one time I honestly fell in love. Not only does this mascara add length to your lashes, it also volumizes them, which gradually builds up the more coats you apply to your lashes. I love it.
After then moving onto a second shop in my local area I realised that there were infact, three gifts! Again, I felt the same sort of childish excitement as I did after noticing the mascara in the previous shop. Of course I told myself I needed both of these in my life....and so I did. 'That Gal' primer is devine, so devine infact I'm scared to use it because it is such a tiny sample and I don't want to use it all up!! The application of my make-up after applying this primer is so, so different than what it is when I don't use this primer. Even if I use this primer alone, without make-up, I can notice a huge difference in my complexion and it overall gives me a brighter, healthier look. The smell of this product is also to die for, I absolutely love it.
The final product is the 'Porefessional primer.' Again, like the That Gal primer, the smell and application is wonderful, absolutely wonderful. This product leaves your skin feeling so smooth and slightly matte-like...which, for someone who has reasonably oily skin can be seen as a good thing! This product, like the other two, does exactly what it says on the box.
I know for sure, when I get a job again and after my pay day, I'll definitely be purchasing the full size products of all three of these. In the mean time though, I'll have to do with these samples -sigh-
If you're wanting to try out any of these products, then just buy the magazine....for £2, you can't really go wrong!

May favourites!

So, June is quickly approaching and after seeing a few 'monthly favourite' videos on youtube, I thought this would be the perfect to do my monthy favourites for May...which just so happens to be my first ever monthly favourites post! :)

Lately I've had the urge to buy lipstick....and actually wear it! This month in particular I've brought a good few, however these have to be my favourites. The top picture shows Revlon Creme lipstick in shade 750 Kiss Me Coral. I love it and since purchasing this one I seem to have grown a strong love towards coral/orange lipsticks...I need some more in my life! The second photo shows the oh-so-famous revlon Lip Butter in shade 090 Sweet Tart. After hearing such good things about these new lip butters I had to get one, and I've never looked back. The 'butter' in its name definitely gives you a hint as to how smoothly they apply on to your lips.....best thing ever.

I've been reading a lot lately, it's probably down to the fact that I've finished college and I'm now unemployed but hey, I love a good book, and this one is no exception. It's different to all the other books I've read and gives things from peoples different perspectives which I love. I won't give too much away, but if you love a good humorous book then I'd definitely reccomend this one!

After hearing such wonderful things about the DiscoPants I had to get them....and despite them making me extremely poor...I'm still glad I brought them because literally, I've worn them non-stop since buying them. Love them so much. Of course, I have to say a special thank-you to my brother who lent me his student card number so I got these a tiny bit cheaper!

For someone who hates all hot drinks, I love the fact that Costa do their iced drinks and new lemonade. As soon as they announced their new flavoured ice drink I had to try it, and no word of a lie it's their best yet. Orange and Raspberry Cooler...mmm!

Before last month, I could not tell you the last time I brought a magazine. But since hearing that Company had some sort of 'make-over' I was intrigued so had to buy it, which of course I loved so much I had to buy this months issue too. Everything within this magazine makes it perfect, even the paper makes it wonderful, and for once, I have a magazine which I can relate my style to. I suggest you all pick this up and have a flick through, I love it :)

I'm always on the look out for new music to listen to, so once I saw that this was uploaded to Spotify I had to listen to it, and instantly fell in love with it so much I had to buy it. Ben Howard, without a doubt has the most beautiful voice.
I've wanted to dip-dye my hair for a long time now, but since buying last months issue of Company I wanted to do it even more....I think it was just a spur of the moment thing! I love it. the dye itself is wonderful and it is only semi permanent so doesn't really damage your hair....in fact, the colour hides all my split ends which is good haha. It's just like putty, and no word of a lie i've just used the tiniest bit, so it's definitely worth the five pound!

What are your favourites for this month? :) xo

Small Haul

Following on from my discopants post (I realised the post would have been way too long to include both a Haul and an OOTD haha) I decided to invest in some new beauty products. After quitting my job and now officially finishing college I've been a bit lost, and of course, poor. However having about £40 to my name and the current 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug seemed to cheer me up a bit and give me something to do...so of course I couldn't resist and I'm still having to justify spending over 31 pound causing me to be even poorer than what I originally was but hey-ho!
Boots and Superdrug have to be without a doubt my favourite shops, I've really learnt to love them recently and whenever I got paid in my old job I always found myself spending wages in either of them, especially when they have fabulous deals such as 3 for 2...it's an offer I can never refuse!
Originally I had just planned to buy a lipstick I've been
lusting over for a long time, and then top up on my mascara and then get the free item, however this did not go to plan. I always get so carried away. Anyway, this is what I brought (I'm not sure whats going on with the allignment of the photo?!) But, going from left to right;
  • Rimmel Wake me Up Foundation in shade 200 Soft Beige
  • Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara (my holy grail mascara for sure- love it!)
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Shade 090 Sweet Tart
  • Maybelline colorsensational popstick in shade 060 Citris Slice
  • Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in shade 04
  • Revlon lipstick in shade 750 Kiss Me Coral

Maybelline Colorsensational Popstick
Slightly Dissapointed with this lipstick, it was more of a spur of the moment purchase purely because I liked the package and presumed it would have at least a tint of colour on your lips, but it doesn't. It does however moisturise your lips leaving them glossy and it has a lovely smell so of course I will use it however already know I won't purchase this again in the future.
Kate Moss lipstick
This was the lipstick I originally set out to purchase, obviously I got carried away however I still made sure I got this. I just felt as though I NEEDED this in my life- not sure why, but I did. I love the colour however it looks ridiculous on me but that does not stop me loving it and knowing me, I will wear it out. I love it.

Revlon Lip Butter

After hearing this product being raved about in youtube and blogging world, I probably got too excited when I finally saw the Revlon Lip Butters in stock at my Superdrug. there weren't many colours to choose from as many were out of stock however I just went for this one, without even testing it! I love it. The colour is lovely on my lips and the 'butter' in its name is certainly correct, it has such a smooth appliance and just leaves your lips feeling so nourished which I love. I will definitely be buying more of these when I get a job and more money, especially if the 3 for 2 offer is still on! wonderful!
Revlon Lipstick- Kiss Me Coral
After watching many of Zoe's youtube videos and blog posts (http://schoee.blogspot.co.uk/) I decided to check out the orangey lipsticks....and I'm strangely, already addicted and fallen in love with them. This coral lipstick is more orange than pink but not too too orange...but honestly, I love it!

Top to Bottom; Revlon Lip Butter, Maybelline popstick (invisible lol), Kate Moss lipstick, Revlon coral Lipstick
Have any of you tried these products? What do you think? :)

OOTD| 14/5/2012

Last Monday I finally got round to purchasing Black American Apparel Discopants after lusting over them for SO long. After much uhm-ing and ahh-ing I finally spoke to my mum and asked for her advice, and her advice to me was to just go for it, that way I would have something nice to show for the last of my money and seeing as I don't know when I'll get money again or when I next get a job she suggested I just go for it. So I did, rather excitedly may I add. Now, I've always been a bit of a cheepskate, I won't lie. However, something just seemed so right about spending £70 on these after hearing so many good things about them. Needless to say, I have literally lived in them since. Here's what I wore with them today:

It's not a very detailed or clear photo but it's the best I can do with my phone. I just paired the discopants with an old black and white speckled effect jumper which I brought from Primark sometime last year and then just tucked the jumper in at the front so you could see the high wasitedness (?) of the discopants- which I love! I then just paired these with my baby pinky Vectra 3's which I got from Topshop. Ok for some reason it wont allow me to put in a picture of my shoes however I'm sure you've all seen them. They're beautiful and I love them so much I couldn't resist but purchase the black ones too in a recent trip to London.

Have any of you got discopants? What do you like to wear with them? I'd love to hear your ideas! :-)

19th April 2012

no words can explain how excited I was when this date FINALLY came round. Since I was a young child I've been a huge fan of Steps, so of course as soon as they announced their reunion tour I HAD to get tickets.
This is me before the tour....
And here's the view we had. Not too close but close enough! It was so amazing, so so amazing. Everyone loves things that remind them of their childhood so this was definitely a plus for me, it was exactly like it used to be years ago. Of course, being a huge fan of Claire Richards I have to say the best part for me was her solo, absolutely mesmerising.
Did any of you go? If so, what was your favourite part? X

Brit Awards 2012

I absolutely adore award ceremonies, so of course I was extremely excited to sit down and watch the Brits on Tuesday night!
Overall I felt the whole ceremony was pretty good. I'm extremely glad Adele won her awards- all of which she totally deserved, and I absolutely LOVED Florence and The Machine's performance.
Florence Welch, in my eyes is the definition of beautiful.....so beautiful in fact it makes me slightly depressed!! Not only was her performace absolutely breathtaking, but she looked absolutely devine on the night too:

She always looks so, so elegant and her style is just so right for her. It is unique and different from other artists styles, which is the same and Florences music!
I loved the sort of sequin top half of her dress, and then the sheer material for her legs which draped down all the way to her feet, giving it a really floaty effect which looked perfect as she was running up and down on stage!
Florence Welch's style is definitely one I love.

Who do you think was styled best on the Brit awards on Tuesday?! Were there any outfits worn by celebrities you just wish you could have?
xoxoxo

Natural Collection Lipstick Review!

I've been lusting over lipstick for a long time now, but never have the confidence to buy it and then wear it out butI've seen a few other bloggers/youtubers wearing a few lipsticks that I've really liked the colour of and I've been trying to find similar colours, because they're not too 'out there' so I can wear them out in public and slowly build my confidence up about lipstick!
Today I thought I'd go into town on a mission to get some lipstick and I ended up with these beauty's. They're Natural Collection so were only £1.99 each (!!), and for the price, they're fantastic! The browny coloured one is called 'Fig Leaf' and with it on, you can tell you're wearing lipstick but it's not too dark or too light, it's a lovely colour! It also gives your lip a beautiful brown shimmer. The second one I brought is called 'Rose Bud' and although on my hand it looks dark, it isn't dark on my lips, actually I'm currently wearing rose bud so have a look!
Ok I'm aware the lighting isn't at all good so you may not be able to see very well, but again you can tell you're wearing lipstick but it's not too pale and not really over the top. Both of these lipsticks are in the moisture range too, and no word of a lie my lips feel so nice! I'd definitely recommend these lipsticks, especially if you're anything like me and not having the confidence to wear really bright lipstick! I'm definitely going to buy more in the future! I may even wear one to college tomorrow!
